What are the main parts of the ESTHeR Accommodation Register?

Navigation of the ESTHeR Accommodation Register is conducted through five different screens or views.

  • FormView
  • TableView
  • EditView
  • Sort
  • Search

The two screens you will use most often are FormView and TableView. When you first open you will see the FormView record for one of the member agencies.

How do I navigate through the FormView ?

FormView has seven main buttons that you may wish to use:-

TableView

Switches to the TableView screen where a list of the services is displayed with their current accommodation or support status.

Search

Switches to the Search screen.

Edit Record

(This command is only visible to ESTHeR Members) Switches to the screen through which members may update their service's details and current availability.

Show All

Little change will be observed by clicking this button. It relates to whether or not you are currently browsing through a selection of all of the agencies or a subset. This button is most useful when looking at the list in TableView.

Sort

Again this button is most useful for seeing the list of services in TableView - try it out there.

Previous

This will take you back to see the record of the previous service in your current selection.

Next

This will take you forward to see the record of the next service in your current selection.

How do I navigate through the TableView ?

TableView has six main buttons that you may wish to use:-

FormView

Within TableView this button has a subtle effect. It will take you back to see the record of the previous service in your current selection.

How do I update the details in the record for my service?

There are four steps to do this:

  1. Go to the record for your service
  2. In the top-left list of commands click on the <<EDIT RECORD>> command
  3. If you have no changes since your last update - proceed directly to Step 4. If you wish to change anything simply go to the relevant fields and make the necessary changes to the data in your service's record.
  4. In the top-left list of commands click on the <<SUBMIT>> button in order to finish the updating of your record.

What is the best way to quickly check availability ?

Using the TableView you can look down the column headed <<Possible Vacancy>> in order to find which service might possibly have current availability. When you find a "Yes" check the time and date columns to see how up to date the listing is and then click on the number for that service in the left-hand column in order to check the details for that service further in that FormView.

Who do I contact if I have problems updating the record for my service?

Please email admin@esther.org.au for ESTHeR Support. For the moment telephone support is not available although if you know a worker at one of the services that most recently updates their listing in the Accommodation Register they may be willing to assist you with advice over the phone as to how to overcome your problem.

What if no service has any availability that suits my need?

Unfortunately this is not uncommon. ESTHeR Member services every day are approached for people with genuine and urgent need just like you. We wish that we were able to find answers for everyone, but we simply don't have enough resources to meet this demand. Some services will be able to offer you support that may lead to you finding accommodation - but we can make no guarantees. To find a service that currently may be able to offer you support please open the Accommodation Register, click on the TableView button and then look on the right hand column. A <<Yes>> response in this column indicates that the agency may be able to assist. Click on the number in the left column of that service to see more details about who, when and how that service may provide support.
